How Binance calculates funding
Binance: F = [average premium index + clamp(0.01% − premium, −0.05%, 0.05%)] / (8 / N), N being the interval in hours. The premium index is a time-weighted average over the interval with later points weighing more (equal weights on 1-hour contracts). The rate is capped at 0.75 × the maintenance margin ratio both ways on major pairs and at ±2% on the others; a contract that hits the cap can move to a 1-hour interval.
